How to calculate the right wattage for your home

1
Check your Meralco bill

Find your average daily kWh usage. Divide your monthly kWh by 30 to get your daily consumption.

2
Determine peak sun hours

The Philippines averages 4.5–5.5 peak sun hours per day. This is how much usable sunlight your panels receive.

3
Calculate system size

Divide your daily kWh by peak sun hours. Example: 20 kWh/day ÷ 5 hours = 4kW system needed.

4
Choose panel wattage

Divide total watts by panel wattage. A 4,000W system ÷ 400W panels = 10 panels. Adjust for roof space and budget.

Solar panel wattage FAQs

400W monocrystalline panels are the sweet spot for most Philippine homes. They offer the best balance of efficiency, cost, and availability. A typical 5kW system needs 13 panels of 400W each and fits on a standard 3BR roof.
